Touchless Buttons Introduced in the latest Revolving Door Retrofit Package

Edam, the Netherlands, November 2020 – today Boon Edam introduced a new touchless button retrofit package suitable for all their automated revolving door models. With the Coronavirus having a lasting impact on the behaviour of people interacting with products in public environments, and the emphasis on health and safety – there is a responsibility to cater to these changing global demands. Automatic revolving doors are excellent examples of naturally touchless entrance solutions, using advanced approach and safety sensors to begin moving without the need to touch the door’s surface. However, contact was previously still required when function such as enabling the disabled (slow) mode or the free-out for secured passage mode (TL360N). Replacing Common Push-Buttons The new retrofit package replaces existing push-buttons with infrared sensors that can detect the presence of hands and objects at a close range of ca 12 cm. A simple wave of the user’s hand is enough to activate the necessary door function and feedback is given to the user via a LED ring. The solution is ideal for revolving doors in the most vulnerable segments such as hospitals, elderly homes and large residential buildings. Working Principle The working principle of the touchless buttons is simple, and the LED ring colour is configurable (red/green) to suit different applications. From a user interaction standpoint, we advise using a permanently lit green LED in the rest position and blinking after activation. A hand-waving symbol was added to the bezel to indicate that it is a touchless operation. The retrofit package consists of premium quality buttons with clear symbols (as shown above), connectors and a sticker with the International Accessibility symbol.    Video of Touchless Disabled Button | Boon Edam    Boon Edam’s retrofit packages update the technology of your entry, and the touchless buttons are available now through your local Entry Expert. Boon Edam’s Tourlock Security Door Reaches 40th Anniversary as Proven Tailgating Prevention Solution

Edam, The Netherlands July 31st, 2020 – Royal Boon Edam International B.V. is proud to announce the 40th anniversary of the launch of the company’s renowned Tourlock security revolving door. The demand for this reliable security entrance, first built in 1980, continues to grow as the risks to organisations due to unauthorised entry increase. Today, the Tourlock is used in thousands of facilities worldwide, including commercial campuses and government buildings due to its high level of throughput and ability to prevent unauthorised access without the need for manned supervision. In addition, the Tourlock has always been an automatic, “touchless” security solution requiring no contact from users during activation and operation, making it as relevant today as it was decades ago. Mitigating Tailgating by Design Tailgating is the most common way intruders can slip into a secure facility. The Tourlock, by design, prevents an unauthorised user from following an authorised user in the trailing compartment. This working principle removes the burden on people to “be impolite” by refusing to hold open a swing door for a stranger. An added feature of the Tourlock is that it stops rotating in the “plus position” during a tailgating attempt. This places a “wall” between the intruder and the secure area, and the intruder can only turn back and step out of the door, while the authorised user continues onward into the secure area without any interference. Preventing Piggybacking with Sophisticated Technology The Tourlock combines premium construction with the option to include the intelligence of a sophisticated, near-infrared detection technology housed in the ceiling, called StereoVision. StereoVision scans each compartment during rotation to verify that a user is alone before allowing them to enter a secure facility. If more than one person is detected, the door will stop rotating and alarm, then slowly rotate backwards, forcing both users to exit the door. The technology in StereoVision has been enhanced continuously over the decades and today can function reliably in a wide variety of lighting environments, including outdoor lighting. Its reliable performance over the years has proven to be an extremely reliable method of preventing piggybacking into a secure area without excessive false rejections. Add-Ons for Increased Security For added security, the Tourlock security door on a building envelope can be outfitted with Level 3 bullet-resistant glass, capable of stopping three .44 magnum bullets. Additionally, biometric identity verification devices can be attached to the end post or a pedestal to provide a highly secure and touchless authorisation method. The Tourlock is capable of integrating with virtually any access system on the market. Contactless Pathways Integrated into High Security Doors We consider the access control and biometric devices the "heart" of our security entrances. When it comes to providing a touchless entry, security entrances integrated with access control equipment effectively control entry to facilities. The Tourlock has evolved over the years to be compatible and used in conjunction with virtually any access control or biometric system. Our recent strategic partnership with AnyVision, combining AI-powered facial recognition software with security entrances, will soon be available on the Tourlock in addition to the Lifeline Speedlane Swing speed gate. We look forward to bringing advanced safety, security and seamless access capabilities to the entry experience, as the next step in this trustworthy entrance’s continued journey. This is uncomplicated,  premium, advanced security – realised from a general industry need for a quality, straightforward security entrance solution. In addition, current developments surrounding the corona pandemic are causing companies to increasingly ask themselves who and when and why they may be inside a building or a specific space. Key Features Intuitive user guidance Tailgating, safety and object detection sensor sets, as standard Easy installation Generous interior space cabinet for flexible ACS integration Premium quality materials Smooth, swing motion glass barriers Short V-shaped cabinet with ergonomic design and small footprint Flexible lane configurations (including a wide lane for disabled access) Universally understood and proven display symbols Easy, Effective and Efficient Holding back on high-level features and options means that the Speedlane Compact is easy-to-use, easy-to-install, agile in the manufacturing process; and fast to arrive at the customer’s location. When it comes to integration, the product designers have focussed on ease and flexibility. The Speedlane Compact’s wide cabinets allow for integration with many types of technology, including access control such as biometrics and facial recognition. Third-party integration is simple and collaborative technology is even more accessible. Mark de Jong, Product Manager of the Security Products Portfolio at Boon Edam said, “The Speedlane Compact uses advanced algorithms to detect tailgating, piggybacking and other forms of misuse.”  He goes on to explain, “The sensors also detect objects – people carrying briefcases and trollies through the speed gate - they are recognised as such, and the product’s behaviour adapts accordingly. These same sensors also make the product 100% safe to use.” Trendy Premium Minimalist Design Ideal for Small Spaces The Speedlane Compact is fashioned to fit into small areas, making it ideal for high-value real estate properties. It does an effective job within a very small space – relieving security personnel and ensuring that only authorised people can enter the designated area. Its small footprint does not compromise in any way on design. “In terms of design, it looks great.” continues Mark “This is a consequence of the Boon Edam design philosophy of ‘premium minimalism’. We use strong lines to create a powerful, yet elegant statement and the tapered design helps it fit in any environment. The overall look is modern yet still warm and visually appealing.” More information, brochures and videos can be viewed here.
